Science Poem by Paul Reed

Science

Will science know that I held you in my heart?
The calculation give a precise answer,
An unanswerable answer
Into which love does not fit;

How many stars in the galaxy
Do we need to unblinkingly stare
Down at us, to know that our tired heads
Rest on a stone pillow;

Would it not be more imaginative
To dwell on love and it's meaning
To practice it
And to nurture it's vulnerable flame;

To keep alive life, for the sake of life
To wonder without wishing to know
To sleep until we wake anew
To know the answer is in our hearts.
