Schools Out? Not Yet. Poem by Melissa Coventry

Schools Out? Not Yet.

Rating: 3.5

The echo of footsteps,
Fills the empty dim-lit walls.
Schools out? No yet,
I’m still here and with the zest,
To learn and to be learning…
Yet this cold walls,
Breathe neither life nor sound,
Only flickering lights,
Dripping taps and footsteps.
Learning with a tutor?
Peaceful and rewarding… yet,
Lonely… is this is my school ground.
With no friends to sit with,
As they swim and lark
Elsewhere…
On their study day.
