Scape Goat Poem by Aditya Raj Verma

Scape Goat

Lighting flashed, thunder screamed from the sky,
Closing my eyes, shutting my ears, on my bed I lie,
Sleep was in eyes and mind in thoughts floating high.

A dream stuck that night, bit strange and weird,
A goat ran towards me from a temple it feared,
Fright, grief embedded in it's eyes as it appeared.

Save me! Save me, it shouted and wade,
Why are you so dreaded? , the question I made,
Death! sacrifice! it said, trembling, so afraid.

Priest ran behind it yelling and galling,
Hey! you give me the Bali was he telling,
But the goat hugged me and kept wailing.

Crowd formed, harsh words flying in the air,
While we stand there hapless, as a pitiful pair,
To resist or show heroism, I can't even dare.

In one flick they drew the goat away,
Both eyes wet but nothing to say,
Bali happened, everyone happy and gay.

Why it was the goat not the Lion? I thought,
Why the God stayed so silent and naught?
A Lesson or my incapibility what it had taught?

Nothing, just a simple philosophy of life,
If you are a goat, world greet you with a knife,
Weak and feeble have always been in strife.

Lions and eagles are never sacrificed,
Why? Because they make the world terrified,
Be a lion or else get ready to get kicked and fried.
