Saved By The Snake.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

at the time of
the pandemonium when panic
was at its
top, the frogs were
helpless
and the snake was there
still looking
for something to eat
in the midst of
the chaos,
and the rats too
and some geckos, and the way
to be saved
is only known by the snake
whose slimy skin shines cold
to the high moon,
and the frogs, and rats, and
geckos beg for the cure,
and then the snake opened its mouth
showed its tongue and
fang
and without much hissing
the snake
ate them all.
