On the sidewalk, I stood alone
And saw her walk across the road,
I viewed their arms entangled
And homewards I strode,
All throughout my heart cried
And cursed me all along,
I knew my guilt because
I had punished it too long
Love’s what I detested,
It only breeds pain
But in pain I am now too,
My heart lies here slain.
Save me from myself,
I am my biggest enemy,
I am the cancer
Which itself is killing me.
Save me from myself,
I am my biggest enemy,
I am the storm
Drowning myself in the sea.
As I trudged along
Down poured the rain,
To my ocean of sorrow
It was just a grain.
As I look in the dark sky
The clashes one hears,
Raindrops wet my face
And become one with my tears.
On the sidewalk, I still stand alone,
Inside I hear a painful moan.
I gave a deep sigh
And felt something inside me die.
