Sardonic Rats Fearless Welcome Break Of Day Poem by Terence George Craddock

Sardonic Rats Fearless Welcome Break Of Day

Rating: 5.0

a surrealist first few lines
to immortalize break of dawn
picking a poppy over the parapet
in genocide Great War trench
agony dust echoing through time

smelt not now is rancid stink
disintegrating human flesh eyes
which fertilizes butchered fields
barb wire bomb blasted wastelands
where rats bold feast fresh corpses

smelt not now is choke rancid stink
disintegrating limbs human flesh eyes
which fertilizes butchered mud cake fields
barb wire shredded slaughter wastelands
where rats feast gorge fresh abattoir corpses
smorgasbord sticky skeletal titbit tasty treats
decay saturated mud gas bloated stomachs
death shares decaying putrid rat meals

madness spreads to new fresh blood battlefields
with ever more advanced slaughter weapons
with ever more efficient killing machine cruelties
poppies bloom through new design modern uniforms
agony echoing through time echoing through time
