Safe Place Poem by Edward Punales

Safe Place

There's a staircase in my house,
That leads to the Underworld,
I go down there when I feel lonely.

In a corner,
Dr. Frankenstein teaches his monster to talk,
Dracula dances with his brides,
The Wolf Man howls with his cubs.

At the bar,
Lucifer buys me a drink,
And tells me about how he rebelled,
Against God and Heaven.

In the ring,
Freddy and Jason spar,
As Godzilla and Cthulhu watch.

Whenever I go down there,
I feel safe,
I feel welcomed,
I feel like I'm not a bother,
Or a burden.

Angels judge you,
Monsters never will.
