Sadness Of Our Times Poem by Darwin Henry Beuning

Sadness Of Our Times

Rating: 5.0

Our young children
Learn very early
That father and mother
Cannot protect them
From every harm.

They are taught about
'Stranger Danger',
And given a whistle to blow
As they venture out
'On their Own'.

They also learn
Many military terms:
'Duck and Cover'
'Incoming'
And, 'Medic'.

Parents,
Hold your children tight
As they rush forward
To meet their fate.

Are they but,
Lambs to the slaughter?
Today,
Much can be said
For 'Home School'.

Wishing to hold tight to our children who are so eager to step out in their world. Confident and fully trusting in a world where values change like the rising of the sun. Do good and be true to yourself. In that is a great reward.Love this poem with emotion and pain so excellently penned.

I share your feelings about, presumably, gunmen who have killed innocent schoolchildren. M.Walker.

We really do need to be careful. Was just reading a few minutes ago about a thirteen-year-old girl who was kidnapped and then murdered.
