Sacrifice Poem by Scott Bean

Sacrifice

You made me feel
Like your prince charming
But for you I was nothing
A thing worth harming

I lay here at night
My last thoughts of you
The hole you have left
No mending will do

The future you showed me
Was nothing but fake
So I snuggle my pillow
And hope I don't wake

The morning has come
And I am still here
My first thoughts of you
And wanting you near

I wish I were stronger
Then end it I could
You left a shell
Where a man once stood

You said you love me
That you really care
After all that I did
You left me in despair

No man in your life
Has passed the trials I faced
But it didn't matter
I was quickly replaced

Wrongly accused
Of things I don't do
While all the time
I was loyal to you

Stay strong I did
And broke your resistance
I helped tame the dragon
That threatened your existence

Back with a vengeance
He knocked me to the floor
I turned for your help
You ran for the door

Ripping and tearing
My chest now a hole
You saved yourself
And sacrificed my soul

He is clawing and biting
The hurt is rife
I'm begging you please
Come save my life

You can't stand the sight
Me lifeless on the shore
Then fight for my love
As I have for yours

If my pain
Makes your happiness stay
Alas I love you
That's a price I must pay
