Rural Panorama Poem by jerlyn eguia

Rural Panorama

the green rice fields stretch
and expand
in kilometers

the sky is as wide as the
sea obstructed by tall mountains
like hands
touching the softness of the clouds

the house is dilapidated
the nipa roof is balding and the bamboo stair creaks
you wait inside half-naked
i must be foolish
why i exchange the city lights for you.

tonight is dark
i am beside you under the stars.
