Running Away Poem by Mmm Davis

Running Away

Running away was easy, the hard part, trying to stay alive.
Long strides, deep breaths, fast beating heart, and a cunning mind,
it was all inside me.
Not knowing what was ahead, or what was, what had been behind, I ran.
Stopping to take a long breath, I heard something coming my way.
It wasn’t loud, but I could still hear it, its sound seemed like a bullet, swift and strong.
Trying not to panic, I hid behind a thorny bush.
As it came nearer, I sank all the way down, wishing I could sink deeper in the cool desert sand.
