Rose - Tinted Poem by jalyssa elliott

Rose - Tinted

Those eyes
The mirror of my life
A reflection of the deepest truth
That you wont every tell
You don’t have to
Wont ever have to
No lies that you can tell
That I havent already told
No story you can concoct
That I havent already concocted
Your façade was never flawless
The outer layer
Always transparent
Reminds me of a time when hiding was easy
The days when I thought
I could keep up
When I though I could run
But every time
Every single time
Those eyes
My eyes
Gave it away
Be mindful of your inconsistencies
Of your whos, whens, whys
And hows
Hold a smile in your back pocket
For later
For when those eyes
My eyes
Begin to falter
