Roman Poem by Heaven and Earth

Roman

I was alone
There was darkness
Everyone was heartless
To me
They couldn’t see
My intellectuality
Because of my past
They tried to foretell my future
But I was like the Roman god Jupiter
I stood into the light
And with all my might prayed
I would be lying
If I didn’t say I was courageous as a lion
Because for being the leader of my pride
The hardest thing for me was to swallow my pride
But in order to remain
And not only have remains left
I wept
The day turned into night
And instead of sleeping at night
I looked towards the luminous light
Requesting for a deity
To guide me through this Roman Empire
I did not want to roam alone
I would then be a rogue
Being on my own
I would surely perish
My throat was parched
But I looked unto the luminous light
And upon sight
Saw nothing….
It wasn’t touching
So I slept
And upon light I woke
And almost choked
When I found water
By my side
You had always been by my side
You just wanted to hide
And were keen
On being unseen
So you remained
Unnamed
Helping me along the way
And now I wave
Goodbye
Looking at the sky
As I depart from the Roman Empire
Moving elsewhere in Greece
With my fleet
To conquer my obstacles
I would like to thank you
My keen
Never seen
Deity
For answering my prayers
As I was dressed in layers
Staring at the luminous light
That night
You changed my life
Though I watched my back
You had my back
And know I make a pact
To tell you facts
Of my journeys
As I travel through Greece
And yonder…
I ponder
Did not Beowulf have a counselor?
As I look up at the sky
And climb higher and higher
As I leave the Roam Empire
I waive
And thank you for
Save-ing
Me
My savior
My
Deity
