Road Poem by Custous Angelus

Road

I do not know the road
Yet I studied it extensively
I have not seen the road
Yet I can vividly picture it
I have not walked the road
Yet I know the weariness that accompanies it
The road so beautiful and calm
Full of pleasant surprises to some
Or the road so alluring yet perilous
Full of surprises bitter and sweet
I have heard tales of it
That differs greatly from people to people
Yet I know the road
I have dreamt of it from afar
Even attempted to walk on it
Yet the road was not mine to walk
Or not mine until the time ripe
One day I too will embark on the journey
The very journey many so hastily leave for and fail
When the time comes I will walk the path
With a heavy yet joyous heart
