River's Time Poem by Richard Shinn

River's Time

Sitting by the river, watching time flow
Thinkin ‘bout the past and how to let go
I need to forget, need to move on
Before its too late to realize you’re gone
Through the river time will flow
Through the river we all must go
I can’t remember everything that I said
I can’t remember everything that I did
I can’t remember, but I can’t forget
Need to let go, not hold the regrets
And all behind me I sit and recollect
I ask if time will let me forget
We’ve said our words, shared our thoughts
This love we have now, it’s all we got
This love like fire can grow or be smothered
But in so many ways it is like no other
Join me now down this river of time
And hold in your hands this heart of mine
I need to forget, need to move on
Before I look for my heart and realize it’s gone
Through the river time will flow
Through the river we all must go
