Rio Hamza Poem by Ruma Chaudhuri

Rio Hamza

Rating: 5.0

Amazon blows
With extreme speed
As a little deer
He has no fear
In every turn
He crosses the limit.

Below that river
There is another one.
Maybe Rio Hamza
Is the old Mother of Amazon.
She is too slow to call herself a 'river'
And too old to move
Or waiting for an usherer.

Perhaps, she is in deep meditation,
Meditating for life to God Savitar.

@Akhtar Jawad, Savitar or Savita is the name of Sun. In my poem I wanted to mean Savitar) Sun) Light. In Rig veda, it is said to sun.. 'May we attain that excellent glory of Savitar the god: So may he stimulate our prayers.' —The Hymns of the Rigveda (1896) .

Poets beautiful mind seems to be broader than the Amazon basin. The way an aquifer named 'Rio Hamza' got personified as an old mother, it shows the strength of creativity, full of life. I'm amazed to read such poem.
