Repurposed Kolbenhaus

The wonder:
which came first
in Germany,
who knows,
der Kolben, the bulb
of a thermometer,
or der Kolben,
the red, boozy bulbous nose?

Therefore the wonder:
is the Kolbenhaus in Zurich
the weather bureau,
or is it a pub
that's in a building old
in which the weather
once was foretold?
