Renewal Poem by Dele Adeogun

Renewal

Heart goes out in dire yearning
For the love of our morning.
Found when the ground was still wet with fresh dew.
But now lost in the misty fog that invaded the sublime sky.

Now it seems that yesterday is gone forever
Gone with its dreams and hope.
Leaving behind for today the broken ties of friendship
And the silent solemn sigh of despair for the ties
that never may be mended

But tomorrow is not without a spring of hope
For the flowers unfold its beauty with the rising of the sun
Through this chink of vision i can see the golden beam of tomorrow
A tomorrow shaded in the colour of the rainbow

In surge of love we shall lay to rest in a deep grave
The ugly carcass of bitterness, anger and sorrow
Even as we roll away the cover stone off the cave of spleen
So that love and friendship may resurrect.
