Remorse: News Of A Friend's Death Poem by Jason Caporaletti

Remorse: News Of A Friend's Death

Speechless, for once my tongue is lame
Words are rarely far beyond me,
I always know what things to say... usually.
Today is not the same.

In an instant I was spun.
Surprising me is quite the rarity,
Because, I know what's coming... usually.
Today I am stunned.

My heart has now sunken.
Helping friends come naturally
I can console them... usually.
Today my heart is leaden.

I thought I had resolve,
but it's just numbness.
I thought I had knowledge,
but it was dumbness.
I thought I had substance,
but it is nothingness.

Old friend, forgive my selfishness,
I'm folded in by sorrow.
For I will still feel empty,
while encountering tomorrow.
