Remembrance Day Poem by Raymond Farrell

Remembrance Day

I could hear the drums
A block away
Then I saw the police car
Red lights flashing
By the time I'd
Reached the corner
The color guard had passed
Next came the honor guard
Then the band
(a motley few)
Followed by the veterans
With the Air Cadets, Boy Scouts and Cubs
Pulling up the rear
Besides the procession
A few others came
I guess the rest
Just plain forgot
