Refuge Poem by Ruby Dodd

Refuge

Deep in the heart of Texas
Hidden among the trees
Lies a home for the weary
Traveler
In troubled times like these

The storm clouds had quickly
Gathered
Raindrops were begining to falll
To escape from the storms dark fury
We ran away from it all

The door to the church stood
Open
Kind hands helped us safely inside
Fear not! We're here just to help you
Rest till your fears subside

And with hearts as big as Texas
They made us feel at home
And showered us with
Blessings
Like the shepherd whose sheep
Had come home

And then when the storm had
Abated
And sunshine covered the land
We left on our homeward journey
Like a gypsy traveling band

And hidden deep in our memories
Like life's treasures of the heart
Is that church that made us so welcome
In that city with a heart.

What a happy, uplifting poem, Ruby. A delightful note to end the year on and start the new one on! Bless thee!
