Reflection Poem by Michael Kersting

Reflection

In everything we can recognise ourselves.

See the tiny beetle that lies dead in your path? -

It was once a living creature,

Struggling for existence like ourselves.

Rejoicing in the sun, like ourselves.

Seeking pleasure, avoiding pain, like ourselves.

Seeking warmth like ourselves

And now it is no more than decaying matter

A mere shell - which we will be sooner or later.

So live and let live.my friend

Think of the beetle

And we shall see ourselves in reflection.

For in essence we are all One
