Reconnecting Connecticut Poem by Emmanuel Akaolisa

Reconnecting Connecticut

Rating: 4.0

Oh Connecticut
Same world that disconnects you in shock
Reconnects with rivers of tears
Dead sea of haplessness I fear
This uncommon common thing
Done in newton
Heard and seen by every town
By one new Adam
Which serpent did this to him
That he take back so many names
Names he didn't give
See so many Eves
Family, friends, and society
Among us still are crying serpents
There are no passions here
Only emotions dear
This new Adam left alone now
See Connecticut
The world connect to our hurt
Damn, needing no courts
A new thing in newton
Not new in our towns
So disconnected from hypocritical desires
So connected to a disturbed mankind
See Connecticut
Connected or disconnected greatly
We are [here] with you
Making no promises to the future
Of protecting even its dreams
Most have done already on the aisle
We have said never again
But it does with greater pain
Will not ask how it happened
Yes something happened
And we need a change
A holistic change
We know no way forward
Till we be the change
Else tomorrow
Newton consoles the world
To a them familiar thing
And who will save us all
Let us destroy the root of the tree
Given to this Adam
And so many potential Adams
Never again an Eve to give
We don't know the tree
I don't know the tree
