Reconciliation Phase Poem by Toluwanimi Ibikunle

Reconciliation Phase

Hearing the laughter behind my name,
Watching my head plans shatter
Unfulfilled wishes and dreams
lost hopes and lost love
Depression comforts me through it all

Now, I'm in my reconciliation phase
Reconciling my reality with my hopes
Reconciling my heart with me,
Reconciling with all of my tears
Getting through it rapidly and steadily

Though those dreams come so faint,
I'll remember them and live through them
Though the blinds may be tightly shut and my vision's blur
I'll get through it all
'Cause it's my reconciliation phase.
