Reciprocity Poem by Ahmad Shiddiqi

Reciprocity

(dedicated to Indira Renganathan)

Please, don’t be too hard on yourself
All you want to do is let your ego down

Plant them in a romantic playground
Wherever you aim your affections this dawn

There’s a strong promise of reciprocity
To the longevity of this new love

Initial attraction could spill
Into long term commitment

(inspired by Kitaro’s Wings)

Reciprocity leads to mutual respect and bondage. But there are people who say 'What will you give me when I come to your house and what will you bring when you come to my house? '
