summer sweat seethes
and sizzles
on skin made salty
gleaming with damp
moonshine as luna
shrinks towards the dark
another month burned
and withered
wrung of all its juices
a mere husk
housing shattered dreams
soap bubble hopes
and wide eyed
wonderment
excitement
time lived
time drained
time gone
lady turned crone
and bitter
in her passing
not knowing that
the coming dark
shelters new light
rebirth
a shining sickle
of sweet renewal
not the reaper's tool...
a promise reborn
as every morning face
holds echoes
of childhood
expectations
which...
if we are lucky..
are not extinguished
by the mantle
of memory
but live and breathe
in the moment
of eternity
we all inhabit
