Real Me Poem by Zaria Fallenrise

Real Me

My friends hanging out at the club (parting all night)
Asking me if I wanna come (how can I not say)
This isn't who I am (but what if they abandon me)

I looked into mirror (I didn't even like who I really am)
So I decided to change from freak (to perfect)
I was beautiful and popular (and everybody accepted the new me)

I became famous (but not as the old version)
I'm trapped in the prison (I made myself into a cursed monster)
No where to run (this is who I was never meant to be)
This isn't the real me…

When it was all too much (I had enough)
Its time to take off my mask (I'm done with this charade)
I didn't wanna hide within the darkness (I didn't want to become the spotlight)
So I stepped out (from my own shadows)

I turned my back on everybody (because that girl wasn't who I really was)
No more makeup or fancy-schmancy outfits (I'm okay back down to earth shirt and jeans)
Because this is the real me (I'm loud and proud of it)

This is the real me (you better take it or leave it)
Because it doesn't matter with me (I don't care what ya'll have to say)
Because I'm listening to my heart (anyway)

Because this is the real me (and I don't wanna change a thing)
This is who is I am (so baby just take this)
This is the real me (I'm done hiding behind the face of masquerade)
The real me (is a girl with full spirit and wants to be free)

You can't take from what I've given (my real self)
You can't speak when I have spoken (just be silent and listen)
You can't steal what's has already be claimed (this heart of mine is not for breaking)
You can't break what's already fixed and put back together (you can't crushed the spirit of this girl)

Everybody staring at me (like I'm the prey they're the predator)
But I keep on moving forward (never looking behind my shoulder)
Keeping my head held high (staring at the dancing stars of the sky)

You can't stop me from what I believe (you can't stop me from being the girl that I was really meant to be)
The girl wearing no disguise no mask (I can finally spread my wings)
One who can be speak (I'm finally free)
This is the real me (this is who I really am)

This is the real me
The girl who I always want to be
The girl who lives her dreams
The girl who fights for what she believes
The girl who can fly soar and be free
This girl is the real me

This is the real me
The real me
Real me

Real Me…

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This one must be one of my favorites because in the past i was one of those kids who always follow the leader...until i found my voice and spoke up. Everybody in the world has a voice and they are sometimes too shy to speak but others just gotta be louder. I am proud of the girl i've grown up to be. Are you happy with who you really are?
