Ravaged Shore Of Destiny Poem by Uriah Hamilton

Ravaged Shore Of Destiny

Illicit pleasures on dirty streets
where the midnight fog
soaks up the palpable defeat;
Let's fall in love beside the drugstore
with the cracked window and broken door,
let's secretly meet at the pawnshop
where I know they keep
your late mother's wedding ring.

Occasionally, we're sad beneath
weeping stars and the psychotic moon,
we're lonely in the soft glow of candlelight
in empty rooms.
The world, for us, has lost all definitions
of meaning and truth.

I'll see you again, it must be said,
after I've discarded my unwanted memories
of both the living and the dead,
I'll learn devotion to a single soul
and it will be understood, you and I,
have reached the ravaged shore of destiny.
