Rare chant
Rare
Rarely.
I, too, as Poet Seer
Amidst the crowds of
Mermaids in the night
Yearn to chant and sing
And cease at Dawn.

This is a lovely vision of the natural world of the sea raised to a visionary dimension with the song of the mermaids, which I assume is meant to reveal the wonder at the heart of things without the intrusion of contingencies - after these are mermaids, NOT Homeric Sirens. Their song is the visionary parallel to the PoetSeer's poems. Even if he can never join his voice to theirs in making this preternatural music, he is in accord with them and shares the magic they embody. Last year the PoetSeer experienced much hardship, and even despair in your poems. I'm glad he has this delightful interlude to ease those sufferings.
