Rain Poem by Afshan Fatima

The wind started gushing
and the birds fluttered around
Clothes on the line tried to free themselves
from the clutches of clips
Some of those even succeeded
in flying for a while
With a roaring of the clouds came rain
and the leaves started to dance
The dust ridden trees felt fresh
Flowers smiled with delight
and people started looking for shades
Umbrellas were taken out
Kids shouted with joy
and involved in making paper boats
Young girls went to terraces of their houses
to enjoy the showers
snacks were prepared
Cows and dogs settled themselves in any shade they found
Some stray dogs preferred to get wet
People on road stood on either side
and everything seemed to be freshened
The green verdure was so pleasing
to the eyes as well as to the hearts
Then the selfie session began
Cameras were unpacked
Snaps were taken
Pictures were uploaded
on social sites
Statuses were updated
And the lovers romanced
