Rabindranath's Paintings - A Painter's Amazement 2 Poem by Anindya Mohan Tagore

Rabindranath's Paintings - A Painter's Amazement 2

Rating: 5.0

Editing poem was the genesis - scribbles to cover up the unwanted. manuscripts became pieces of art - his calligraphy and doodles. The pen which created magic with words, started playing with lines and curves. Art was intrinsic - mediums differ. Shifts from words to figures became frequent. The Poet started writing poems and stories with his paint brush. He left his paintings unnamed - for you to imagine - sensible souls.

of late came the wish
to express thoughts with brushes -
spring came in colours

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is written in 'Haibun' form where the first stanza is a prose poetry and second one is a Haiku.

A recipient of the Nobel Prize (1913) for literature, Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) was born in an affluent Bengali family. The versatile genius developed an acute sensibility towards various art forms such as literature, poetry, dance and music. He was well aware of contemporary cultural trends around the world. Tagore's journey as a painter began in his late sixties as an extension of his poetic consciousness. Though he had hardly any formal training in art, he developed a highly imaginative and spontaneous visual vocabulary, enhanced by a sound understanding of visual art practices such as modern western, primitive and child art. - Source: National Gallery of Modern Art, Govt. of India, http: //ngmaindia.gov.in/sh-rabindranath.asp

Very nice haiku. I understand it is about Rabindranath Tagore but it is nevertheless universal. The image of his manuscript is wonderful. I cannot say I have read widely but 'Fireflies' is one of my most favorite poems. I have to ask you if you are related?

Mediums or forms of art can not create barriers for a genius while shifting from one medium to another, even without proper training in the later art form. Naturally, the great genius did not find any difficulty in expressing himself through paintings in his late sixties. Thanks for sharing a rarest of rare creations about the genius in the form of a haiku.10++ points.
