Quit Notice Poem by Tosin Abegunde

Quit Notice

To you soldier without uniform,
Comander-in-Chief of heart forces
That fights battle without weapon
But launching incendiary missiles
Sealed in utterances and conducts,
This quit notice I so silently serve.

You who are responsible always
For the pregnancy of rage
With an inscription of courage
Kilned in blistering fiercy furnace,
Which writes: 'fight for your right'
As aftermath, one loses his peace.

Peasant farmer of seeds of discord
Who begats contempt and fear in
Homes where safety is enstranged

The unruly old nincompoop who
Murders personality without stress
And strips garment of team spirit
To leave an armada of betrayal.

I can't condone you no more
As your deafening silence screams
The testimony of your heroic deed
In your last rented apartment, as
The tenant who kills the landlord
And went at large on his burial.

I'll be no less than a fool
If I continue to be your host.
