Quietness

The Journey I embark upon
Through the wild street of life
Where men are without good head
And Judges flood with sentiments
Are virtues far above the station of life
To which princes are born
I wish above all, to lead a life of ease
Quietness and cheer
To grace the court of fate with dignity
And bow out of this realm
As quiet as sea breeze
Without troubling myself with victories
Nor the need for plenty
Just me, as constant as the sun
And angels looking down on me
As long as life endures

poet John Clare

I love to see the old heath's withered brake
Mingle its crimpled leaves with furze and ling,
While the old heron from the lonely lake
Starts slow and flaps its melancholy wing,
