Quiet Down Poem by Kay Tee

Quiet Down

Tell me what you feel
When you speak out to the world
Does your spirit feel so frozen
Does your voice forget your words
Does your mind seem to remind you
That you have all there is to fear
Can you see anything around you
Do you know if it is real

Does your vision start to question
Whether this could all be true
Does the voice inside your head scream
And tell you what to do
Do you wonder if you're worth it
Do you wonder if you're brave
Do you think about the time you've lost being but a slave
To the false mantras that have slowly been engraved into your life

They'll never want to hear you and
You never will survive
Through the glances and the whispers that dictate who you are
I promised and I swore that I wouldn't let this get far

But it's taken over the last bit of hope that I had stored
For the coldest days of winter
For the life I thought was cured

Of the noises and the symphonies that live silenced in my mind
The world can never hear them
But they sing to me all the time.
