Questions Of Love Poem by Jean Renwick

Questions Of Love

Who must I be?
What can I do?
to send your heart a-flutter
or just your lips to smile.
The music of your soul runs deep, yet
soars like a powerful bird and
rests like the warm gentle kiss of the sun
upon my soul,
upon my need,
Until I want to devour you,
to drown within you
and am lost without you.
May we touch?
Can I share your light, your strength?
That boyish face, so full of playful beauty
holds me mesmerised, holds me,
builds fire within.
Why the distance? when to me, all around
is filled with you.
My need for you is overwhelming.
Can it be as I envisage: you hold all the answers
to more than just my dreams?
What is this for you?
Will there be a shared eternity?
