You And I Poem by Jean Renwick

You And I

Your smile lights up my world
like the sun lights up our earthly one
and my heart sings out in joy.
For I have found you, or you me.
As we meld together in time, I
can no longer remember which it be.

The freshness of a Spring morn
mirrors your entrance into a room.
Your eagerness in life;
the sparrows in a fountain at play.
As we meld together in time, I
can no longer remember being without you for a day.

Your soul I do covet,
your body I do worship.
My heart beats in time with yours
for we both abide by faithfulness.
As we meld together in time, I
can no longer remember our separateness.

Whether our passion rises or wanes,
growing older together only decreases
our willingness, our ability to part.
Now the final curtain is falling
and we meld together with time, I
will always remember fate, my love, to us calling.
