Private Tears Poem by lola cesini

Private Tears

Round and round in circles I go
Trying to run away from you so
You call me names and push me around
You pick and you tease with relentless rebound
You show no emotions, you care not for me
You're so noncommittal, nonchalant so to speak
You say you're my friend, yet you're letting me go
You speak pretty words but they're just apropos
Try though you may with all of your might
I will not let you get me uptight
I will be brave, I will be strong
I will not weaken and be overcome
Crying is what you want from me
It is what you seek to make you feel big
But I learned way back a long time ago
To hold back tears and not let go
Crying stirs feelings in all those who see
But they are the opposite of what should be
The bullies laugh with a great deal of pleasure
For bringing discomfort is what they treasure
The friends who no longer want to make time
Feel obliged to remain and be kind
While those who truly care are touched the most
For unable to cheer you they are saddened the worst
It is for these reasons that I defined
That shedding tears will be confined
To when I find me a private place
Where no one reacts to my distress
For when I am there, emotions will flow
Finding solace within my soul
Tears are needed at times to cleanse
To open my mind and cope with change
So private tears is what I'll shed
Not seen, nor heard, yet comforting
And when I am done, I will embark
With renewed faith within my heart
To face the new day with a cheerful glow
With strength of mind, body and soul.

Dear Lola - every word you have written has expressed how it really is in the most wonderfully poetic way. I am sure this will help bring closure to many a reader. I really related to this. Excellent, all the best, T
