Private Pome

We’ve been together nearly 23 weeks now The brightest, happiest time of my life A lot of that I only remember in outline Because I don’t have photographic recall But don’t think I don’t have memories Something inside that I replay when alone I remember the night we were introduced When I wasn’t looking for anything specialJust a distraction from my constant insomniaI was still so very raw from the one before Wasn’t ready to notice another woman like that But you sparkled and attracted my heart I don’t know the exact second that I fellI think it was a gradual unconscious process As the joy and gladness that you gave me Changed into something stronger and eternalI felt tender emotions that I could not name I finally understood what it was that you gave And when we first met I cannot now say What you were wearing or who was around us Or which of us spoke first, what did we say But I can still see the smile that lit up your face And in that first embrace, your heart spoke to mine It told me everything hidden it felt for me When it comes to the physical, when was our first? Was it the night I arrived? That’s when we touched Or when I first saw you, in church So many firsts, all those things I never knew existed This originality you showed to me for a whole month I remember every touch, every feeling, and every kiss I even remember the night I left, though I try not toThe first sunny day, wearing shades to hide the tears We spent it so naturally, making guifts, shopping, sleeping And those precious moments alone in your car Because we couldn’t face the people oppression And I remember those final painful moments as I left So while I might look blank, when in years to come, You ask me to recall what was said at a specific moment I will remember the under lying emotion, the feeling And everything important where we didn’t use words I will never forget all that your heart has said to mine And the love that we have for each other
