Prison Of Only Poem by The Poet Darkling

Prison Of Only

Misunderstood, mistreated and misplaced
Always rejected, left alone, disgraced
No will left to keep fighting anymore
Cant sleep, cant eat, just pace and walk the floor

What's the sense in giving away your heart
To have it given back, all torn apart?
How much can you take? How much can you lose?
She kisses your cheek, her lips leave a bruise…

Just a lonely soul, wandering aimless
Begging for love, pathetic and shameless
No hope for your future, no love can last
‘Cuz you have no forgiveness for the past

There's only heartbreak, anger and sorrow
Run from yesterday, resist tomorrow
You want love so bad, but push it away
Out of fear she'll come, but then won't stay

Your soul's trapped by hurt, your heart's trapped by fears
You're singing a song you think no one hears
But I hear your song, I feel your pain
Tried to dry your tears, but they'd left a stain

A stain on my heart, a familiar mark
‘Cuz I'm like you, we wallow in the dark
We embrace our pain and build our fences
Each terrible hurt heightens our senses

We want them to come, but wont let them in
Although we're the one's committing the sin
The sin of ignorance, the sin of fear
The sin of not letting anyone near

So we pay the price for another's crime
We punish ourselves and we do the time
All locked up in our prison of only
Your heart plus my heart still equal lonely…
