Pretence Poem by Claire Taggart

Pretence

Pretence is all you can achieve
This false smile is all you need
Inside is the place you sigh
Altho this I'm sure you will deny

Their laughter cuts you deep
Jealousy rages
Why is it you feel so incomplete
Why are you the one that never lands on their feet

Stuck in a timeless moment
Your life a memory
Condemned to repeat

This sadness follows you around
A second shadow
Another lonely place you have found

Your heart and mind are two worlds away
Each broken beyond repair
The game of self destruction put you there

Broken trust
Took your innocence when you were so true
Stopped you from growing into the person you once knew
