Precious People Who Care Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Precious People Who Care

Rating: 5.0

Her kindness felt from another land
touched me inside, as if softly by her hand
A feeling so kind, that she does understand
Touched by the loving care of a good friend

She's a wonderful woman, still young, not old
Still I can feel part of her a little girl; alone.
Struggling for her family on her own
In another world, that can be so cold

My heart goes out to her
I give her a part of my own
We only write, I've never heard her voice by phone
I let her know, I see her, she's not alone

Me sitting alone on a couch
Her sitting up in bed
We talked about the days we suffered
feeling less alive and almost dead

She keeps a lot of her sadness from me
But still I see, and it hurts me
So I give her care real and not contraband
I lend her my heart, my imaginary hand

And we provide shelter
In ways I've come to understand
Letting her know, she's not alone
And has a friend

But today she said some soft things
That made me sentimental and cry
Happy tears I'm certain
Though I don't know exactly why

Maybe its that my heart has felt broken
Strirred up, lonely and upside down
And then she came around
And kindness made a smile out of a frown

And in the honesty of the moment
We both had happy tears
Each glad to know of the other there
Knowing a kind heart, and feeling their care.

Before I left her and wished her goodnight
I kissed her on the forehead as she wrote back Nite Nite
And as she turned of the light and brushed back her hair
I asked God to watch over her, with a silent prayer

Thank God for precious people who know about care.
