Preaching To The Choir Poem by Michael John Cook

Preaching To The Choir

To the future,
He toasted,
Full of hope,
Not just his own,
But for all,
Give a little,
Get it returned,
Keep smiling,
Not just for the camera,
Open your arms,
As well as your heart,
Be honest,
But be fair,
Above all,
Love one another,
His parting words,
He took his seat,
How had that gone?
No matter he supposed,
All toasted,
That was the point,
It only mattered,
That one had listened,
And would take heed,
Of his speech,
If only himself,
Then one life at least,
Had been given hope,
One ear reached,
From his own words,
By his own speech
