Prairie Dogs Poem by Marilyn Lott

Prairie Dogs

Have you ever studied Prairie dogs?
Well I have, many times
My favorite place is by Devil’s Tower
It was a wonderful Prairie Dog find

We sat our chairs up right in the midst
Of a large Prairie Dog town
Oh, they got so excited I’ll tell you
That they spread the word around

Those little critters popped right out
Of the holes in which they lived
Stood on their hind legs and chattered
As though they would never forgive

Well, we decided this wasn’t good
For we never wanted them upset
But the experience I had that day
Is one I will never forget!
