Postman Of The Forest Of Fall Poem by Shakti Chattopadhay

Postman Of The Forest Of Fall

Postmen of the forest of Fall I have seen them a lot
Their yellow bags filled up like bovine belly
Have picked up old letters anew
Those postmen in the forest of fall

I have seen them ceaseless
Like egrets fish
Mysterious, alert and agile

They are far from our own postmen
Who keep losing letters of our luxurious love

We are drifting apart from each other
We are going afar to get letters
We are getting more letters from far
We are going away from you yesterday
To post love letters today to postmen
Thus we drift away from our kin
Thus we reveal all our foolish weakness and greed

We can no more see us in mirror
We float away in loneliness of our balcony
We are floating away in moonshine without our shirt
We have not held each other in arms for years
We have not kissed each other for years
We have not heard other sing for years
We have not seen a carefree kid for years
We are walking towards a forest older than the woods
Where eternal leaves had left their mark on the rocks
We are heading towards such contactless world

Postmen of the forest of fall I have seen them a lot
Their yellow bags filled up like bovine belly
Have picked up old letters anew
Those postmen in the forest of fall

A letter drifts apart from a letter
Haven't see a a tree going away from a tree.
