POLITEIA Poem by Alexis de Roode

POLITEIA

I don't want to exterminate anyone,
but if I had to exterminate anyone,
it would be the Swiss.
We could also do without the Russians.
Down with the Russians, up with the solar panels.
It is time for realism in The Hague.

My favourite form of state is
the constitutional dictatorship.
With a ceremonial dictator
who cuts ribbons
and remains in office until death.
Then he is lynched by the people.

Torture as an instrument of power
cannot be excluded,
but with strict regulations
and an independent supervisor.
It is important to maintain transparency.
No more violence behind closed doors.

It is evident from the sales
of literary thrillers that housewives
are not getting enough violence in their lives.
In future the slaughter of millions of animals
and the shredding of pullets
will take place in public in city squares.

We will abolish the shadow society.
From now on the Children's News
will report on Dutch investments
in the arms trade and execution technology.
Every Refugee Centre will get its own reality show.
IKEA a ball pit filled with innards.
