Poles Apart Poem by Pragya Singha

Poles Apart

Why do I love you more?
Why don’t I love you less?
I have learned to tolerate the pain
Your thoughts still drive me insane,
My stomach throbs.
My head spins with strain.
As I desire to lay a wanton claim.

I want to see you more but in my dreams a little less,
Your presence makes me a mess,
In the darkness I feel distress
Perceiving you in a state of undress,
As I envisage your caress.

I want the cravings for you to cease
And to start to find some peace,
To feel the silence of the night
And hear the stillness in the rain

You have another life!
I want to be the Dame!
Who holds your essence and your flame
In a sublime state devoid of pain
Who experiences the stillness in the rain.
