Poem For Dr William Carlos Williams Poem by Richmal Byrne

Poem For Dr William Carlos Williams

Williams –

I have told you before... -

(you’re not a medical student now, f’pete’s sake!)

leave my food alone!

you have eaten
the plums,

which I was saving,
straight out of
the icebox!

now there’s nothing

like... breakfast...

MY – so sweet & cold breakfast...

every single plum

gone...

down your thieving gullet

Williams!

And don’t bother

to say you’re sorry...

I’m the one that’s

sorry, sorry

I didn’t put a padlock

on the icebox.
