Poem For Dawn (Sounds Of The Night)

I hear the sounds of the night
it is pseudo-silent but piercing
I hear the distant sounds of the night
from a distance I cannot tell (see)
calling to the depth of my heart
I try to resist her charm
though she is never a tale to trust
I dread betrayal more than her harm
She holds promises of good and evil
and my wisdom is too stunted to know
Her call may hold my lovers tears that flow
trickling down to quench the fire in my heart's glow

I hear the sound of the sound of the night
She is as loud as the asp
but subtle as a butterfly's grasp
shall I fall into the night's embrace
and maybe there see my lover's trace

OR
wait till the morning
amidst a sea of yawning
when the dawn
young like the fawn
and an emissary of hope
will bring then, my lover home
