So you think you know what the poem will portray.
Performance Managements Systems are here to stay.
Think of a performance appraisal as a process, not an event.
Use it as a tool for improvement, not just to torment.

Research done long ago gives rise to the uses of an appraisal.
There are as many applications as there are for witch hazel.
You see, philosophies of management come and they go.
As a manager, always give the gift of feedback when apropos.

Always commit to setting realistic measurable goals.
Coaching is less painful than walking on hot coals.
Feedback should always be given now and not later.
Communicate urgency as if being chased by a gator.

You still need to collect data before any discussion.
Without data, you may as well be speaking in Russian.
An appraisal should be the accumulation of much talk.
It is not the time for you to simply squawk.
