Platform Imagery/ Smoking Is Injurious

Platform Imagery

The young mistress in the burqa
Going the footbridge
With the shadow leaving her not behind.

Trains halting, passengers getting down,
Some getting into,
Some passengers seated upon the benches.

Smoking Is Injurious

A smoker
Taking out the cigar
From the packet
And putting it to his lips
Holding into the fingers,
Trying to light,
Light it
And it smoking,
Taking time to
And he giving puffs
To keep it ablaze
With the embers
Burning,
Burning and smoking
And he smoking in,
Smoking out,
Smokes coming out
From his nose, lips
And the mouth
And he trying to shake
The ashes
And when stumping out,
The butt is thrown
To be crushed under
The black boot.
